Contractual Details will be agreed following a suitable response notifying us of your interest, including start date and so on. This is also a good time to bottom out any final overhanging queries and make any last minute changes you are contemplating (the clearer your specification / requirements, the least likely costs will alter during the works). The schedule will be expanded upon to provide an elemental breakdown of costs which will form the basis for regular payment requests by calculating the % value of works completed at any given time. For higher value projects, this will also be linked to a detailed / cost loaded programme showing when individual work items will take place as well as identifying week by week costs to enable you the Customer and as equally important for us the Builder to forecast expenditure throughout the project duration. Formal Contracts Having a formal contract provides protection to both parties with the Customer and Builder signing-up to an agreed set of rules governing how and when payments are made and what their individual rights are with regards to notifications under the contract, managing of variations, dealing with quality issues and/or disputes etc, and managing the project close-out. We generally recommend using the Federation of Master Builders ‘Plain English’ contract of which can be found by clicking here. We are happy to discuss options for using this or to consider any alternatives you may wish to use |
